Aim: To establish close cooperation between partner organisations resulting in capacity building, support for formal education and training of the study staff. This will include the establishment of a framework for future human challenge studies for Shigella and other vaccines. The specific objectives are:

 

• To strengthen and develop capacity in clinical trials and clinical immunology for assessment of immune response to the vaccine in Burkina Faso and Zambia

• To develop know-how and infrastructure for surveillance

• Support South-South and North-South networking and collaboration among consortium partners

• To assess the feasibility of establishing CHIM capabilities and advocate and support initial steps needed to establish CHIM capabilities in Burkina Faso and Zambia
